Participants will receive a Pacific AP* Institute Certificate of Attendance if they have attended all sessions of their chosen subject.

For participants desiring Graduate Units or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) arrangements have been made through San Diego State University to provide these. Details are below.

Graduate Credits 2009

The 2009 Pacific AP* Institute has been approved for two semester units of ED X997 credit through the College of Extended Studies, San Diego State University. These graduate courses offered through the College of Extended Studies are designed to meet the needs of educators who wish to develop or continue the study of a current topic. Courses numbered at the 900 level are not designed to be applicable to graduate programs at SDSU but, like all transferable credit may, with approval from the receiving institution, be applicable to degrees at that institution.

Course Registration:

Credit registration forms and information will be included in the information packet you will receive at the Institute. Tuition: $144.00, for two semester units; includes one official transcript.    Registration Deadline: July 14, 2009.

Prerequisite:

Registration in the 2009 Pacific AP* Institute.

Course Requirements:

  • To earn credit in this workshop, participants are required to attend and participate in the entire institute.
  • Sign and initial attendance sheets daily.  Session attendance sheets will be provided at the institute.
  • As a culminating exercise each student will submit a three to five page paper (typed, double spaced, 650 word minimum) in which they synthesize the various experiences that took place during the institute. The purpose of the paper is to describe the best concepts or practices related to advanced placement instruction and curriculum and how you will integrate or apply the new information. Please include a cover page with your name, contact information, course title, course number, and credit schedule number.

The reflection paper is due no later than July 17, 2009. You may submit the reflection paper via email, fax or postal mail to:

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) 2009

The 2009 Pacific AP* Institute has been approved for 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through the College of Extended Studies, San Diego State University. One continuing education unit is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience; the primary purpose of the CEU is to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments. This record can be used to give employers, professional associations and societies as a uniform measure of short-term educational programs completed. CEUs are not academic units and cannot be applied to degree programs at institutions of higher education.

Course Registration:

CEU registration forms and information will be included in the information packet you will receive at the Institute. Tuition: $105.00, for three CEUs; includes one transcript.   Registration Deadline: July 14, 2009.

Prerequisite:

Registration in the 2009 Pacific AP* Institute.

Course Requirements:

  • To earn CEUs, participants are required to attend and participate in the entire institute.
  • Sign and initial the attendance sheet on a daily basis. Session attendance sheets will be provided at the institute.

Check with your District Office to determine whether CEUs or Semester Unit credits are best for your situation, since all districts handle them differently.
