Charlotte
Chambliss
|
A native of Dallas, Texas,
Charlotte received her B.F.A. (Drawing and
Painting) from North Texas State University in
Denton, Texas in 1984; she received her Teacher
Certification in Secondary Art in 1997 from Texas A
& M Commerce, Texas. Charlotte has been
teaching classes in visual art at Booker T.
Washington High School for the Performing and
Visual Arts since 1989. She has taught AP* Art
History for 17 years and AP* Studio Art for 13.
From 1994-1999 Charlotte was part of the O'Donnell
Foundation's Incentive Program for AP Arts - an
initiative to establish AP* Art classes in Dallas
area schools. The program provided training and
monetary incentives to teachers. From 1999-2001 the
initiative was extended to provide training in
establishing Vertical Teams in the Arts. In 2005
AP* Strategies, Inc. began a new five-year
initiative to build "Schools of Excellence in the
Arts." The Visual Arts faculty of B. T. Washington
was accepted to participate in this program.
Charlotte will be involved in both the Studio Art
and Art History programs. Additionally, she was
selected as Lead Teacher for the Art History
component.

Charlotte has been a College
Board Reader for AP* Studio Art since summer 2000;
from 2003-2007 she has served as a Table Leader.
She became a College Board Consultant in 2002.
Charlotte has presented a variety of workshops on
AP* topics for several Texas school districts, as
well as at AP* Summer Institutes. From July 2002
through June 2006 Charlotte served as a member of
the AP* Studio Art Test Development Committee.
Since 2005 Charlotte has been a College Board
National Leader for Consultant Training and
Endorsement. Charlotte was selected Booker T.
Washington H.S.P.V.A. Teacher of the Year for
2000-2001. She also traveled to Japan in November
2001 as a participant of the Fulbright Memorial
Fund Teacher Program.

art making supplies (pens, pencils, colored
pencils) if you can travel with them.
|

Participants will be asked to
share successful lessons that they have used in the
art classroom. If you have a word/document file of
the lesson please bring it on a CD, FlashDrive, or
